Run #2751 by Wankston Churchill at Shamrock Beach
Run Report
Our club returned to one of our favourite run sites at Shamrock Kali's Corner, bringing back a route setting that we haven't had for quite some time. The hare certainly gave everyone a memorable challenge with a long and demanding trail that required hashers to conquer three hills before reaching the finish.
The 5.03 km route featured an impressive 569 metres of elevation gain, proving once again that it was the climbs, not the distance, that made this run so tough. The last five runners took nearly 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete the route, showing just how challenging the trail was.
To make things even more exciting, rain started pouring while everyone was making their way downhill. The trail quickly became muddy and slippery, making every step a careful one. Despite the conditions, everyone completed the run safely.
Back at the runsite, all the hard work was rewarded with a delicious home-cooked feast prepared by the hare and his lovely wife. Nothing beats great food after a tough hash!
We were also delighted to see a couple of long-lost members returning to join the run. However, they came without a mobile phone or headlamp. When they failed to return with the rest of the pack, everyone became concerned that they had lost their way in the hills. Thankfully, they eventually made it back safely after taking a Grab from another location to the runsite. During the On Down circle, they were called On Ice as a friendly reminder that all hashers should always carry a mobile phone, headlamp, and sufficient water when joining a hash. Safety should always come first.
A special congratulations goes to our senior hasher, Lily, on achieving the remarkable milestone of 1,000 runs! What an incredible accomplishment and an inspiration to all of us. Here's to many more runs ahead!
On On! 🍻🥾
