Run #2750 by Oyster Licker at Kim Kim Restaurant

This week's runsite brought us to the charming town of Balik Pulau, located on the southwest side of Penang Island, about 12.7 km from George Town. Known for its lush greenery, fruit orchards and laid-back kampung atmosphere, it was the perfect setting for another memorable Hash adventure. The trail covered 6 km with a respectable 342 m elevation gain. The route started along village roads before leading runners and walkers into the surrounding hills, where the real fun began. The trail offered a good mix of forest paths, winding climbs and scenic countryside views. While not the longest run, the elevation certainly made everyone work for their dinner. What made this run extra special was Balik Pulau's famous fruit season. Along the way and back at the runsite, members were treated to an impressive spread of local delights including durians, jackfruit, mangosteens, rambutans and watermelon. Some hashers seemed more excited about the fruit buffet than the trail itself! The reward at the end was well worth the effort. Hungry hashers were greeted with a delicious serving of Nasi Lemak and Hokkien Mee, the perfect post-run meal after burning calories on the hills. Nothing beats enjoying local favourites while sharing trail stories and laughter with fellow hashers. It was encouraging to see many members completing the entire trail despite the challenging climbs. Everyone returned to the runsite sweaty, tired and satisfied, proving once again that the best Hash runs are those that test our legs, reward our stomachs and strengthen the friendships within our kennel. A big thank you to the Hare for setting an enjoyable trail, the food team for the wonderful spread, and everyone who came along to make the evening another successful outing.
