Run Report

We set off up some ancient excuse for a trail behind the Shooting Range, puffing and pretending we were enjoying it, until we hit the crossroads of the Peace Trail. Left turn. Because why not? The trail then stretched on… and on… and on… like a bad AGM speech. Eventually we stumbled out at the second crossroads and headed down toward the bottom of the stairs to No. 5 Station. In a moment of questionable judgement (clearly oxygen deprivation), we decided not to climb the stairs. Big mistake. The trail toward Moongate turned into a sadistic rollercoaster of ups and downs that converted tired legs into wobbly jelly. Whoever laid that section clearly has issues. Evening came and a respectable gaggle of hashers assembled. After the GM finished rambling — allegedly giving instructions but mostly enjoying the sound of her own voice — the runners were released for a near-5km shuffle. And then… the real stars emerged. It was the Chinese New Year Run, and although hosted by the Chinese members, donations poured in from everyone. Unity, generosity, and possibly guilt all played their part. By the time the first survivors staggered back, the ladies had produced a feast so impressive the tables were considering early retirement. Food everywhere. Glorious food. Mountains of it. The artistic contingent then assembled the Lo Shang with such precision and colour that it briefly resembled high culture. Of course, minutes later it was enthusiastically tossed into chaotic deliciousness, as tradition demands. Nothing says “prosperity” like flinging salad in the air with great enthusiasm. By the time the final stragglers limped home, 36 of 48 members had shown up — plus a few brave guests. Not bad at all. The evening rolled on with chatter, laughter, excellent food, and subsidised beer (always the true hero of any run). Even the weather behaved — clearly someone had strong connections upstairs. Many lingered long after Samy departed, heroically ensuring no beer was left behind. What a night. Fantastic chaos. Huge thanks to everyone who donated, organised, chopped, stirred, carried, and generally made it all happen. Next week it’s June Bug hosting at the side road at TAR College (Changkat Lembah Permai). Show up. Run. Eat. Drink. Complain. Repeat. On On!
