Run Report
It was a scorch-your-brain kind of day that mercifully gave way to a cool, moonlit evening. Six ex-Singaporean guests — now all happily lost and hashing in Portugal — swelled the numbers, while several familiar old faces crawled out of the woodwork for Iceman’s run and promptly rejoined the madness.
After the GM’s traditional grandmother stories (still no idea how they’re all relevant) and the hare’s briefing — a supposedly modest 4.5 km with a cheery warning about slippery bits — the pack set off. The walkers, as usual, stood around debating life choices until the GM made an executive decision and led them off, keen to show off some “classic” old terrain from back in the day.
We walkers followed paper until it crossed to the opposite path. We turned right (the paper went left) and headed downhill towards the PBA, eventually popping out at Tenby School. From there it was a longer-than-advertised trek back to the run site, but the thought of cold, subsidised beer worked better than any motivational speech.
The circle was loud, lively, and fuelled by constant chatter, good food, and enthusiastic beer consumption. Icings were duly administered to the guests, while one particular hasher received iced water instead — strictly to cool him down, according to the GM (and definitely not punishment… allegedly).
Many thanks to Iceman for a very generous run and excellent hospitality.
Next Thursday, 5th February: we’re at the Temple in Bukit Gambir. Nutcracker is hosting — turn up, behave badly, and support her.
